FOX Not Renewing T:SCC
FOX has released their upfronts for the 2009 Fall season, and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles is not listed. No official word yet that it has been “canceled” but keep checking here and our Twitter for updates as we know more. At this point, unless they were to bring it back in the spring, it looks like FOX has indeed cut the show.
*UPDATE*
Kevin Reilly of FOX confirms that “Terminator has completed its run.”
That pretty much takes away the hope of a Spring pickup. Unless season three comes to us in comic book form, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, is over. It was a valiant effort on all the fans part to show their love and dedication, but FOX just decided to go another direction. Let’s hope in the coming days, they see the mistake they have made. Thank you all for your support through SkyNext over the past year and a half. Steve and I will be announcing our plans of what to do with the show soon.

“Betting on DollHouse”… Worst bet ever.
I’m no longer watching FOX. Me and them are done professionally.
May 18th, 2009 at 10:16 am
Done with FOX…..House and all.
May 18th, 2009 at 10:18 am
Don’t get me wrong because I love Dollhouse, but that’s not a better show than T:SCC. I feel Fox has made a grave error and a whole lot of new enemies.
May 18th, 2009 at 10:20 am
Thanks for making a great podcast, guys. It was a blast to listen to
May 18th, 2009 at 10:21 am
I am going to be spending the next few days contacting every FOX advertiser that I purchase products from to let them know that I will no longer be purchasing their products while they advertise with FOX. If FOX wants to play dirty, then so be it. I am sick of rolling over while FOX kills every TV show I love.
May 18th, 2009 at 10:21 am
I’m angry and sad by this news. Not only because I’ve just lost my favorite TV show, but because I’ll soon be losing my favorite podcast. You guys did an amazing job each “week” and you will sorely be missed. I can only hope that your next episode will not be your last that that you’ll be reviewing the Terminator movies and maybe even have another BAG or even an Ash/Zack interview up your sleeve? Too much to hope for? I think not, we’re a hopeful crowd here.
May 18th, 2009 at 10:25 am
Okay, I sent this tweet to @skynextpodcast, but will repost it here. Don’t you think T:TSCC would make an excellent replacement for BSG on SciFi?
May 18th, 2009 at 10:27 am
totally done with FOX he sounds like an axxhat, it wr or with dollhouse but we ultimately bet on dollhouse so tscc is over…uhmm that IS an either or as he phrases it there
frak them and their little Dollhouse too..
I liked ti but it had NOTHING on TSCC nothing!
May 18th, 2009 at 10:29 am
I cant believe this, my favourite TV show gone ! Is there any word of another channel picking it up ? Im really going to miss the Derek and Steve podcast.
May 18th, 2009 at 10:30 am
i like how they make ‘no apologies’ well frak them and the horse they rode in on then IOW they could care less about the fans and the COD and the DVR cause we did better than Dollhouse there
good then they wont have to appologize to all the sponsors I will contact to let them know this 40 yo mom who does all the shopping will be changing products
it may be small but hey ripples make tsunamis baby
thank you Skynet podcast thank you cast and cre aND tscc brothers and sisters in arms we rawked it hard
May 18th, 2009 at 10:44 am
There’s always direct to dvd, like Stargate?
May 18th, 2009 at 10:51 am
I’ll be rewatching the show and relistening to the podcasts just the same, as well as looking forward to your podcast on T4. Since there is literally nothing that I watch on Fox anymore I now have some free time to try something new.
The new Fox execs are just the same as the old Fox execs, but I will refrain from describing them since there might be children reading this. I just hope that T4 has amazing numbers and people like Kevin Reilly get to see just how stupid this move was when there is about to be a whole new wave of Terminator fans.
May 18th, 2009 at 10:58 am
Wow. This seriously sucks. I’d like to cordially invite the FOX executives to die in a nuclear fire. (They can take their pseudo-news network with ‘em while they’re at it.)
Major kudos and thanks to Derek and Steve for the outstanding podcast! I look forward to the big finish!
May 18th, 2009 at 11:07 am
well i was getting into FOX watching hell’s kitchen and TSSC but now im done. I hope to hear Lena, Brian, and Thomas’s reactions soon.
May 18th, 2009 at 11:10 am
They are just going to cancel Dollhouse after 13 episodes anyway, and boy will I laugh when they do…
May 18th, 2009 at 11:14 am
now its possible that it could be picked up by another network. the people who make this show have connections and will use them all im sure
May 18th, 2009 at 11:16 am
Not only that, but FOX should keep it around to replace Dollhouse when it crashes and burns.
Terminator would be a great midseason replacement.
May 18th, 2009 at 11:25 am
NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
this stinks.
May 18th, 2009 at 11:35 am
well scott since they’re cancelling it now, they wont have anything to air by the time that happens
May 18th, 2009 at 11:45 am
Maybe SciFi will pick it up. Becuase why would Fox keep a show that has a tie to a MOVIE FRANCHISE, that starts back up this week with a new trilogy.
May 18th, 2009 at 12:37 pm
The most intelligently written and executed TV for many years. Brilliantly acted, well paced, done with real emotion and subtlety. Lets hope that another company can pick this up - its too good for FOX. Greetings to all from across the pond.
May 18th, 2009 at 12:38 pm
ok. So, what is our next step? I mean beside not watching FOX anymore. How do we go about continuing the fight for TSCC or getting it on SciFi (I refuse to call it the other name)?
May 18th, 2009 at 12:47 pm
Big mistake! Just can’t believe they’re doing this… :(((
May 18th, 2009 at 1:05 pm
You know….dollhouse had lower numbers and the same DVR support.
I guess they were willing to run the risk of hurting their movie this week than in once again canceling a Whedon show in season 1.
The part hat is irritating is all the supposed support hey gave it…by putting it on in the death slot on friday nights.
Well I liked house…but im now done watching it all live…..there are other ways to watch it without commercials.
May 18th, 2009 at 1:05 pm
What a huge mistake… cancelling ……the best show ever !
Even in Europe(europe ? well thats france, belgium, italy , spain hmm about 25 countries) it’s a big succes( i know that doesn’t count) but even so, how is such a BAD decision possible, i mean leaving Dollhouse and stupid shows and cancelling a perfect show instead.
It really does not make sense at all. FOX is a GREAT Studio, they have proven that many times, but such mistakes should not happen for many reasons. for starters : ill never ever buy any dvd or blu ray from a fox show. we all should boycott theit products!!
IT MAKES NO SENSE TO CANCEL TSCC , THIS show could Run for at least 4 seasons more … ùµ^$^ùµ$^ùùù^^^$µµµ$$(beeing polite^^angryyy@Kevin Reilly)
May 18th, 2009 at 1:09 pm
BAG made the argument, and it’s a good one, that FOX doesn’t count all the DVR numbers and DVDs and foreign viewers, which prove that more people are watching the show than the Neilsons record.
The problem is that FOX only makes money on what the Nielsen’s record. All that other stuff doesn’t make money for FOX, whereas since they own Dollhouse, they get paid for the rest of it.
May 18th, 2009 at 1:13 pm
**** the money - what about ART?
May 18th, 2009 at 1:17 pm
What about it? This is a business unfortunately. I’m betting that TSSC can make money elsewhere, either SciFi or Direct To DVD. Or maybe we can get a novel to finish the storyline.
I believe if FOX had produced TSSC and Warner Bros owned Dollhouse the situation would be reversed.
May 18th, 2009 at 1:19 pm
we can only hope that scifi picks it up like they did when cinemax canceled sg-1. but looks like fox has shafted fans agian, looks line i have to find another podcsat to listen to.
May 18th, 2009 at 1:20 pm
Why does Warner Bros have to air TSCC on fox, I mean aren’t there other channels what will show it. How about ABC, SciFi, CBS.
#&@%& Fox
This is the only show that makes my weekend a whole lot enjoyable.
Screw you fox
May 18th, 2009 at 1:22 pm
this friggin’ sucks. it’s the only show i watched. oh well…now i watch nothing. more time for other things i guess….but, it still sucks. smooth move fox.
May 18th, 2009 at 1:28 pm
I think the key thing now is to go see the movie this weekend.
If Salvation makes an insane amount of money, somebody somewhere is going to take a hard look at TSSC.
May 18th, 2009 at 2:08 pm
iam pissed at Fox Sarah Connor was a great show well written, why would they cancell it when the new film is comeing out soon wtf are they thinking jeez, Fox sucks.
May 18th, 2009 at 2:28 pm
“Art - what about it” - the point I’m making is that if Film/TV was all about money just imagine…….could FOX not afford to subsidise a loss leader to develop a reputation for quality ? Its short termist, especially in light of their foolish deciisions around scheduling. It shouldn’t all be about commerials, somehow i don’t think that they were loosing $10M an episode…….
May 18th, 2009 at 2:42 pm
Maybe you guys can educate us on your next podcast about the chances of another channel picking up the show (FX, SciFi, other?), how that process works, etc. Would probably have to be at a lower budget
May 18th, 2009 at 2:44 pm
excellent point Tom
May 18th, 2009 at 2:48 pm
UK Ed- there used to be more of that strategy then there is now, back when there were 4 channels etc etc.
I think Fox’s true sin is waiting so long to cancel it, long enough that it maybe too late to send it to another network.
But even there, can you blame them? Why would they risk it succeeding with their competition?
May 18th, 2009 at 2:55 pm
Fair comment well made Scott. Over here we have a partially state funded channel (BBC) and another that has to make “TV for minorities” (can’t remember the official phrase). I just worry that a 100per cent focus on the commercial would mean zero risk taking, no progressive programming, just bland nonsense - and I find that scary - Thanks…..
May 18th, 2009 at 3:13 pm
When DollHouse Premires, everyone switch to a different channel. Let the ratings drop.
May 18th, 2009 at 3:14 pm

May 18th, 2009 at 3:58 pm
Agreed.
May 18th, 2009 at 4:00 pm
Thanks guys for making a great show even better. I’m as bummed about not hearing the two of you and your views on the show as I am angry at FOX for saving Doll House and cutting TSCC.
Travis
May 18th, 2009 at 5:29 pm
I’m pretty sure done with FOX for good.
May 18th, 2009 at 6:20 pm
In this day and age, its not impossible that both dedicated fans and the internet can affect change. Granted its a small chance, its still possible. Maybe with a stroke of luck we’ll see a conclusion/continuation of the universe we know and have come to love. In a corny sense, we can take a major theme from T:SCC and apply it here: NEVER STOP FIGHTING.
May 18th, 2009 at 6:26 pm
Fox made a grave mistake in not renewing this show…I wonder if the CW would be willing to pick it up for a Spring replacement next year considering it’s already released it’s Fall lineup. I mean hell, Smallville’s numbers were probably lower than Terminator’s and yet the CW renewed it. Fox did the same thing with Firefly years ago and James Cameron’s Dark Angel by only giving it 2 seasons especially when it’s producers and writers had a season 3 lined up for Dark Angel. All of the Actors and Actresses who played on Terminator did an outstanding job! As did Derek and Steve who have helped those of us who may not get Fox in clearly (Stupid Converter box!) What you guys ought to do is convert T:TSCC podcast into a podcast devoted to the franchise itself and focus more on the movies (The new ones) and maybe offer your thoughts on the older Terminator movies. As far as Fox goes, a favorite Styx song of mine comes to mind, “Kiss your @$$ goodbye” used to love FOX especially the Simpsons, not anymore!
May 18th, 2009 at 6:28 pm
oh and a word to BAG(Brian Austin Green) You were awesome as Derek Reese! keep doing what your doing buddy!
May 18th, 2009 at 6:29 pm
I think I might cry…
May 18th, 2009 at 6:30 pm
I must agree. Although each cast member made their own unique contribution, BAG was the heart and soul of the show
May 18th, 2009 at 6:45 pm
All I can say is I want BAG back on the show to share his thoughts on the cancellation.
May 18th, 2009 at 7:04 pm
Now that I’ve thought about it, I think budgets were a huge consideration…my meaning is that maybe the special effects were so expensive, that FOX wouldn’t sign off on it and that FOX figured it wouldn’t be a good show without…
May 18th, 2009 at 7:21 pm
Thank you Derek and Steve. You’ve made commuting to work enjoyable.
I feel like FOX stranded me in an alternate future.
May 18th, 2009 at 8:54 pm
Hi Brian,
I think BAG might get himself in trouble for his career if he discussed the issue on a podcast with Steve and Derek. From the podcasts I could tell he really believed in the show, I’m sure he’s having a beer somewhere right now.
Regarding the budgets, I’m sure that’s 90% of the calculation. 10% of Fox’s decision is based on, “Maybe we’d be killing another Firefly” and the other 90% is a bunch of variables fed into an Excel spreadsheet. And with Dollhouse, Fox gets all the revenue streams.
May 18th, 2009 at 9:38 pm
TSCC CREW - please don’t give up! We want you back!
Please move to a different channel. I can’t believe show like that is killed.
No more Fox!
May 18th, 2009 at 9:41 pm
Did I fall asleep? Dollhouse must be on. Time to watch my TSCC DVD’s.
May 18th, 2009 at 10:13 pm
I’m really sad about this. I just can’t believe that anyone at FOX even heard about the finale because there’s no way that a show with that kind of ending could have “completed its run.”
May 18th, 2009 at 10:43 pm
Danocamera, I have cried, quite a few times today. The news is so devastating. If Fox wanted the ratings to increase they wouldn’t have put it on Friday’s at 8. This is insane. It’s like they were setting it up to do badly.
May 18th, 2009 at 10:45 pm
Here’s a new fan movement that’s better than solely sending hate mail.
http://terminatorwiki.fox.com/thread/2847098/T4+Tickets+for+TSCC
“T4 Tickets for TSCC:
Why don’t we all buy Terminator Salvation tickets and send them to Warner Bros telling them the reason we saw the movie was because of TSCC…”
“To build off that.. whoever you go with, ask them for their ticket. Ask random strangers after the movie for their ticket. Ask the guy at the door if you can have the tickets that they put into the box. Save all the tickets you can collect .. staple them to a piece of paper that says “for Terminator: the Sarah Connor Chronicles” or something like that. or just TSCC or whatever.
If you collect 20 tickets that’s 200 bucks. If you collect 50 that’s 500 bucks. If 50 people do that, it’s $25000 and so on and forth…”

DONE with FOX!!!!!!!!!
Everyone needs to start emailing those fools now and not let up.
Get everyone you know to not watch fox anymore.
May 19th, 2009 at 7:11 am
I sent an email to FOX, listing the 10+ shows I’ve enjoyed that they canceled over the last 10 years.
Another great show is added to the rest that this network as cut short. I’m sure Season Two DVD/Blu-Ray sales will make them realize their mistake.
I hope that Sci-Fi (or SyFy) will step up and save terminator for us. Since they have lost BSG, all they have left is Eureka.
I truly enjoyed listening to the podcast, the best out there, “Run, Derek Run”!
If Terminator does not return on a new network, hopefully it will, I will be keeping the podcast files as an excellent companion for repeated viewings of Seasons 1 and 2 of Terminator!
May 19th, 2009 at 10:01 am
it was cancelled the minute they moved it to Friday night. shows just dont survive there. i called it then. its too bad. it was the best show on television.
May 19th, 2009 at 11:37 am
My thoughts as all…I have had it with Fox. Dollhouse stays? Come on…it’s terrible.
TSCC was well written, acted and produced and it gets cancelled.
Sometimes you just need to shake your head and wonder. I too will not watch Fox any longer.
May 19th, 2009 at 12:36 pm
Well, we had a good run, and we still have the season 2 DVD to look forward to! I’m not particularly “mad”, because we still have 3 more movies coming our way, but I am disappointed. However, I can understand how Fox had their reasons for cancelling the show. I’m looking forward to seeing all of the T:SCC actors’ future projects!
Paige (who, in the end, still supports the Robot Lovin’ Act of 2027)
XD
May 19th, 2009 at 12:51 pm
What a bummer. This is brutal. Not much more to say. Unbelievable.
May 19th, 2009 at 1:15 pm
Anyone think there is any hope in this being true?
http://www.sfcrowsnest.com/news/arc/2009/nz13931.php
May 19th, 2009 at 2:34 pm
Its plausable - I’m sure that politics has a lot to do with it. Lets hope so.
I would be surprised if Fox gained revenue from DVD sales, but as suggested above perhaps the Skynext guys can enlighten us.
May 19th, 2009 at 3:15 pm
“Beep!!!” it, I’m in New Zealand and we still have about another 8 episodes to go before it’s finished here but now the finale of season two will be a bitter sweet thing knowing that this story ends there.
I hope that Steve and Derek can find another project to work together on because I like their banter. It will be a sad day when they finish their last Skynext podcast. It was one of the ones i most looked forward to each week.
On the plus side it leaves BAG free to work on the Green lantern and Fathom projects.
May 19th, 2009 at 4:34 pm
I guess Ausiello was right after all.
May 19th, 2009 at 4:46 pm
I think everyone should check out the forums for both Skynext and T:SCC. Very interesting discussions about this.
May 19th, 2009 at 7:16 pm
Don’t give up hope, yet. SciFi(SyFy) may pick this up for next fall. There’s also been talk of TSCC getting renewed by Fox if Dollhouse ends up failing.
http://terminatorwiki.fox.com/thread
May 19th, 2009 at 10:32 pm
I’m so pissed with this stupid decision by Fox. I won’t watch the stupid channel anymore. Seriously? Seriously? SCC was the best show EVER. Okay?
It has such a loyal fan base man. Look at all of us. We campaigned our hearts out. Went on every poll possible and made sure that SCC won. And now this.
Season 3 would have been epic if it happened. And if Fox is capable enough to realize it, they should have. They’re the ones who ruined the show by moving it to Fridays. It’s not because the show’s not good. The show’s great okay
I’m in depression here man. I really want it back.
I love each and every person in that show. Great acting. Great writing. Great direction. Great everything.
And you go and cancel it?
I hope some other channel takes it up. I don’t even want to watch Salvation anymore.
I’ll miss SCC.
May 20th, 2009 at 5:29 pm
I’m gonna send my Terminator: Salvation ticket stubs and anyone else’s I can beg, borrow or steal to WB asking to get TSCC back on the air, somewhere in some form even if they have to cheese up the fx a little to save $$.
May 20th, 2009 at 10:29 pm

The reason this show was cancelled - two words… American Idol! Fox doesn’t need well written shows with solid plots and cool storylines and hot naked robots blowing stuff up while they have that kind of ratings monster. The public, unfortunately, has spoken. Intelligent, exciting storytelling has been trumped by Ryan Seacrest’s bedhead. You’ve sold your soul Fox, hope it was worth it.
May 22nd, 2009 at 11:34 am
American Idol is a bunch of mindless idolatry….it makes stupid people stupider…
May 22nd, 2009 at 8:24 pm
Since NBC is ditching Medium (it’s moving to CBS), NBC should pick up TSCC and put it in Medium’s place!
I am so heartbroken…
May 23rd, 2009 at 11:06 am
“Why don’t we all buy Terminator Salvation tickets and send them to Warner Bros telling them the reason we saw the movie was because of TSCC…”
Good idea, Terminator Salvation was awesome btw
May 23rd, 2009 at 2:22 pm
I can’t believe FOX is cancelling this show. They’re a bunch of morons who should lose all their jobs. Anyway, the CW should pick up T:TSCC since Warner Bros. distributed the show. Leaving things the way they were at the end of season 2 was wrong. There’s no closure and I believe season 3 could be even better than season 2. We all need another season of T:TSCC.
May 23rd, 2009 at 8:27 pm
I was able to see terminator salvation tonight. It was good… I am glad I was able to see it on the big screen at the movie theater… However, the plot was not nearly as good as anything on T:TSCC. With T:TSCC I thought it would be better with all of the special effects that would be in the movie. I understand the constraints of a budget… My two cents… Pay for good writing, that is the attraction of T:TSCC. BTW, the Arnold simulation in Terminator Salvation seemed a little cheesey, what do others think…

Great Podcast guys. Im sorry the show will not be picked up.
May 24th, 2009 at 10:12 pm
Is there anything we can do?? Do I have to buy a Dodge to bring it back? I don’t want to lose this show. I haven’t watched any show as much as I have followed this one. Help us!!

It is like Skynext came back to stop the Sarah Connor Chronicles so that we wouldn`t know what to do for the future if Skynext was real and they were building up there army right now.

OMG!! I’m shocked that Fox have knocked T:SCC on the head. This was a good solid show. Some people should have their bloody brains tested!!
Does this spell the end of this Podcast???
May 26th, 2009 at 11:06 am
I enjoyed this show, but I didn’t love it. I’m disappointed that we don’t get to see where its going after that finale, but again this show started feeling like I “had” to watch it because I invested so much time in it, rather then the “can’t wait to watch it” feeling I get from shows like Chuck, Smallville, Lost, and even still Heroes to a certain degree.
If I had to lose a show that I was a regular watcher of, I can’t really complain that this is the one - but I am surprised that Dollhouse is still around. I thought that these shows worked good together even though they were on the horrible Friday night slot….
Again, it’s just a shame that we couldn’t get at least half a season to see them complete their vision….
May 27th, 2009 at 12:19 pm
you guys need to look up the definition in your dictionary…of “soon” I remember you telling me how important the dictionary was awhile back… choose your words carefully…(I won’t say next time…because…well…that would be like you guys saying “soon” when you really mean sometime in the next few months…)…toodaloo…oh…and make sure you buy plenty of tickets to TERMINATOR SALVATION…otherwise there will never be another Terminator ANYTHING ever again…
May 27th, 2009 at 4:49 pm
I believe that one of the reasons SCC was canceled is because it was a dead end story-wise since the story arch did not sync with T4. BUT it would not have been if T4 had been filmed the way it was originally intended. (See link below.)
IF the original vision for T4 had been filmed, the SCC finale would have made total sense, and fit nicely into the Terminator story arch. Weaver, the submarines, the “Will you join us?” line, John Connor needs John Henry … ALL of that makes sense if the original T4 concept is filmed.
BUT that didn’t happen, and the SCC became a dead-end story, and they probably knew it would end up that way as soon as they found out about the T4 story changes.

I thought it was a decent movie. It was as deep and ’substantial’ as Aliens, The Road Warrior, etc…what more do you want from an action movie? AS TERMINATOR always was an ACTION series first and foremost… Seriously, it wasn’t until SCC that TERMINATOR was serious sci-fi… This movie was a good Terminator film, and I’m glad they didn’t go with all that crap…I still want to see the butchered 35 minutes though…I hope it gets on the DVD…

Why the show was Axed ? 3 words’!, Brian Austin Green!.

I can’t believe that this brilliant show will not be back. I wish some other network would pick up the show. We need a third season! I no longer have a reason to watch FOX.
