Updates, Contests, and More! Oh My!

Thought we’d check in since it’d been a couple of weeks! The biggest news is, of course, we are less than 24 hours away from the ‘yay’ or ‘nay’ on Sarah Connor Chronicle’s third season announcement. Will T:SCC and SkyNext be back in the fall with all new episodes? We’ll all find out tomorrow!

I got a chance to see Terminator: Salvation last night and it…was…epic. It seriously has not all sunk in yet because there was so much going on in the very short span of time. That is probably my biggest complaint: as quickly as the film started, it was over and you’re left waiting for Terminator 5. But that doesn’t make the film suffer it all; amazing script, incredible acting and visual effects you would not believe - I don’t see Transformers 2 topping this one this summer. Expect a full episode of SkyNext devoted to it after next weekend.

That will probably be SkyNext #35, look for Chronicle #34 in the next day or so, featuring our AU hosts Jason and Robin talking about the second season finale, “Born to Run”. (Blame me if it sounds dated, they recorded it weeks ago!) And SkyNext #28 should be working properly now, for those of you looking for it!

And lastly, a special treat for our SkyNext listeners; who wants a copy of Terminator Salvation’s prequel “From the Ashes” written by Timothy Zahn? You could be one of our three recipients to win a free copy! It’s easy: email mail@skynextpodcast.com with the subject lineĀ  ‘FTA Contest’ and if your email address is one of the ones we pick, you win! So get to emailing, be ready to listen to SkyNext, go see Terminator: Salvation, and be prepared for the fate of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles!

Great to hear that the movie is good. After the glory of Star Trek I was wondering if Terminator would be the equal of it, sounds like it will be.

I’ve already bought the book, I recommend it.

As for the yay/nay, I’ve been positive that renewal would occur for weeks now, but am all of a sudden concerned. Dollhouse has just been renewed.

In fact, most of Fox’s schedule has been announced.

This HAS to be a ploy to increase buzz for the show, by announcing during the movie’s premiere week. If it had been cancelled, wouldn’t we have heard by now?

  2. Cam Says:

I’m happy to hear that the movie will not disappoint; I’ve been so excited ever since the first trailer came out.

Are there any regional restrictions on the contest? For example “Only in the continental U.S.A. No Hawaii or Canada peoples (even though you are closer than Alaska) allowed”?

  3. test Says:

I think it’s going to be cancelled. No way around the fact that ratings were bad.

  4. caesarscott Says:

ratings were bad because they pushed it to Friday night. i could never make time to watch it on Fridays live. always had to watch it on DVR, even though i have an HD tv. and much prefer watching it high def

when it was on mondays, i DVR’d monday night football and watched SCC live and then went and watched MNF.

friday is a horrible night to try and watch something. any other day would have been better

  5. Scott Says:

The ratings were also pretty much mirrored by Dollhouse, which has been renewed. And as BAG pointed out, the ratings for Dollhouse and Prison Break went down when Sarah Connor was finished.

But on the other hand, Dollhouse is owned by Fox, whereas TSSC is produced by Warner Bros. When the Whedonites buy the DVD’s, Fox gets a cut. But when we buy the Sarah Connor DVD’s, Fox gets nothing.

    I’m troubled…

  6. Scott Says:

Damn you Ausielo. He claims it’s official, TSSC is cancelled.

    Gosh I hate that guy.

Say it ain’t so Scotty, say it ain’t so.

  8. Scott Says:

I still believe it will return in some format. But where before I was saying video format, now I’m just saying format.

    Maybe a novel.

  9. Allison From Palmdale Says:

Scott and “test”, there is nothing official on http://www.fox.com/terminator/ yet.

    Long live TSCC!

  10. Bo Says:

I forget who said this in chat yesterday but I will agree, if you guys say Terminator Salvation was good, that’s all I need to hear.

Over at ew.com entertainment weekley, they confirmed late last night that the show was cancelled. Take it that this site is not fox, but still a rather large and well informed all the same. This really sucks, because I dont have any idea how they can renew Dollhouse and not TSCC. If you want to see the link, I have posted it below.

I’m afraid it’s not looking good my friends. Check out the link; these sources seem trustworthy and official.

What can we do now to see more of this show? I really don’t want season 2 to be the end. The thought of not watching a new episode then tuning into this podcast make me so sad. I do not understand why this show didn’t get similar rarings to genre shows like Fringe and Lost.
