    I’m wondering if there is another copy of Derek running around LA, the one that it (the torture) did happen to.

    Of course, original Fisher might have gone to jail for something else entirely, then tortured derek, then the gf goes back, then she changes something, then derek from the altered future in which he’s not tortured goes back, then the incident happens in the past with young fisher and he ends up in jail for something else entirely. One of those things where the timeline, thwarted getting where it wants to go one way - a theme of terminator - gets there another. Fisher was meant to be in jail, just like the apocalypse keeps happening albeit at different times -
